Our Values

Movement of Churches

The Australian Christian Churches is a Fellowship of churches. This means that we are a movement of local churches, not ministers.

Cooperative Fellowship

The Australian Christian Churches is also a "Cooperative Fellowship". There is a voluntarily agreement to accept and abide by the majority decisions of National and State conferences. Synergistic cooperation is able to accomplish much more than what any one church can achieve alone. We come TOGETHER to GATHER. The Australian Christian Churches is not a denomination but a voluntary relationship between sovereign assemblies.

Autonomy of Local Churches

From the inception of this Movement there has been a total commitment to the principle that Jesus is the Head of every local assembly. The final authority among us is not the superintendents or executives, but the assemblies meeting in General Conference.

Each assembly has the responsibility of right to conduct its own ministries in its own style. The only limitations on the autonomy of each assembly are when its actions create problems for other assemblies and also in submission to the policy decisions of conference which all the assemblies make together.

No Central Government

From its inception, the Australian Christian Churches has strenuously resisted central government. It is one of very few church movements in the world with this organisational style. Most other Pentecostal movements in Australia are either totally, or partially, centrally governed. The ACC has instead opted for centralized administration, but the administrators have no power to rule and can only carry out the policies set by the assemblies in conference.
